Asthma and Allergy Support Group Meeting-Please join us Wednesday, October 15, 7p.m.,  Atkinson School for a Parent Forum on "How to Have a Successful School Year with Asthma and Allergies."

Dear Franklin Families,

Volunteers are a very important part of the Franklin School community and help out in so many ways. This past week we held our volunteer training session. If you were unable to attend please contact Alison Delmonico and Krista Lynch our Learning Partners coordinators at franklinlearningpartners@verizon.net and they will send you a volunteer handbook. All volunteers are required to read the handbook and send back the sign off sheet indicating that you have read the handbook and agree to follow the volunteer guidelines.

If you are interested and willing to be a volunteer for our library book circulation program please plan to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 15th @ 1:00 p.m. in the Franklin School library.

This Friday is North Andover Pride Day- Wear red and black to show your North Andover spirit. The NAHS football team and cheerleaders will be at Franklin in the afternoon for a pep rally. All Franklin students will be admitted free to the game on 10/17 if they attend with a paying adult.

Franklin’s annual Veteran’s Day breakfast is Thursday, November 6th @ 7:00 am in the Franklin cafeteria. All North Andover veterans are welcome as well as veteran grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other relatives of Franklin School children.

From The North Solid Waste Advisory Committee:
The Franklin School is looking for a volunteer who would be willing to be our point person to lead recycling and environmental opportunities in our school. You would be the Franklin School rep and meet with a committee of volunteers from the other schools in North Andover.  Please email me @ lathropp@northandover.k12.ma.us  or give me a call @ 978-794-1990 if you are interested in helping our school go green!

Raise a Reader: Good readers not only read quickly, they also sound smooth and fluent; that is, they put their words together in phrases that sound very much like talking. To help children read more fluently:
    •Give them easy books to read so that they do not have to stop so much.
    •Demonstrate fluent reading by reading to them and doing lots of shared reading.
    •Comment and praise when children read with phrasing and expression.
