Franklin School

A Message from Ms. Lathrop

Welcome to the Franklin School. My name is Pam Lathrop and I am the principal of the Franklin School. Built in 1958, it is a Pre-kindergarten through fifth grade facility with approximately 485 students. The school has a dedicated and experienced staff, an active PTO and School Council and caring and committed families. The Franklin School rules are:

  1. Show Respect
  2. Work Hard
  3. Do the Right Thing

This year we are also focusing on doing Quality Work. You might say we are on a Quest for Quality.

We believe that these three rules encompass all we do here at Franklin, and will ensure that our school is a safe place where all children can learn. We have created an enriching environment where children can grow intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. It is a cooperative and happy environment where families and teachers work together as partners in the education of their children.

Our teachers have been involved in professional development centered on improvement in reading and writing achievement. We have full implementation of a balanced literacy program. This year, the school district has adopted a new mathematics curriculum for grades K to five. Teachers will be receiving professional development throughout the year to successfully implement the new curriculum. We also have begun a district-wide K-5 science curriculum initiative this year. Four teachers at Franklin will be piloting science programs that we will then consider for adoption.

There are many exciting things happening at the Franklin School. Many of these events are highlighted on our Web site calendar.

Thank you for visiting our Web site today.

Sincerely,

Pamela Lathrop, M.S.,C.A.G.S.
Principal
