Franklin School Council

School Council is mandated by the Massachusetts Education Reform Act of 1993. The schoolbased planning, which the council provides, offers an opportunity for teachers, parents, and community members to play an active role in improving and supporting the schools. This is done formally through the School Improvement Plan that is written and revised each new school year.

School Council members meet on a regular basis. Members of the School Council include the principal, teachers, parents and a community representative. Members are appointed by the Principal, or elected by the PTO if there is an abundance of interest. A member of the School Council should attend PTO meetings, as the coordination between the two organizations is critical.

Parents are always welcome at School Council meetings, which will be announced in advance in the Franklin weekly newsletter and on this web site. Every effort is made to publish the monthly agenda in advance and minutes are posted on the bulletin board in the school foyer and on this web site. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the School Council representatives with any ideas, questions, or concerns you may have. The School Council representatives for the 2004-2005 school year are:

Parent Representatives

Staff Representatives

School Council Administrator
